Ask Jo: The #2 Bag of Mail and My Wardrobe

Posted by admin on

Every so often questions and comments come from readers that I think others would like to hear my response to.  That’s when I feature them on the blog.  This is one of those days.

Last week I told you about a wonderful package that I got in the mail from a blog reader.  You can read about it HERE if you missed it.

The package had many of you curious just as I was.  Do you remember this??

I have several people tell me that this was a quilt from the book Kindred Spirit by Jill Shaulis and Vicki Olsen of Yellow Creek Quilt Designs.  I went on a hunt to try to find pictures from the book and finally found this picture…

Oh my, I love it.  Do you remember that I was wondering if the pieces I set by it were border pieces…They are!!

(someone pointed out that one of the star blocks is twisted.  I can fix that…no problem)

Remember this that I thought might be a cute star block, it’s actually the border corners.  SO FUN!!  I’m excited about it.

(Someone asked the measurements on these but being it’s a published book and obviously a part of this pattern, I am opting to respect the designer and not pass along the dimensions)

I was so excited that I ordered the book. HERE is the Amazon link.  I ended up ordering a used copy.  I’m excited for it to come.  I’m sure there will be other quilts that I’ll love too.  I love the cover quilts so much.

While I was there I saw that they had another book out…

I dug around and found some pictures of projects that I liked in this book…

Oh my.  I loved them and others from the book. So…you guessed it.  I ordered that book too.  I order a used copy.  You can find the book HERE.  As I was looking, I noticed that the book was free to Kindle Unlimited users as of my writing this post.  You can find out more about Kindle Unlimited HERE.

I’ll make sure to do a review of the books once they come.  SO FUN.  I can’t wait!!

After seeing these, I was asked about hosting a S’mores QAL in the Fall.  That sounds like a fun idea.  I’ll look into that.

Do you remember this from the package?

People contacted me thinking it was this pattern…
Patchwork Cottage from The Rabbit Factory.  It very well could be.  I’m guessing the maker planned on making it bigger.  You can find a link for the pattern HERE.

I’m tempted to buy the pattern so I could make it in a 4×4 setting.  We’ll see.  I want to finish a few of the other projects first.

About the packages I got, Jean wrote:
Please tell your excellent anonymous friend that my name is Jean ——-/—-, and I live at 1–8-2 ————/—- Street in Muskegon MI, and I’d be thrilled to accept her next surprise box. Just kidding, of course! Lucky you!

This made me laugh.  YES, Lucky me!!

These packages have inspired me so much.  MANY thanks to the reader who sent the packages.

After my bathroom remodel post, I had a couple of people ask what I’m doing with the wardrobe in my bathroom…

This is a family piece that all the kids call “the liquor cabinet”.  I’ll explain why in another post.  This is being passed on to Buck.

A bright-eyed viewer asked what I did about the heat duct that was where the new cabinet was installed.  My cabinet maker rerouted that from me so it will come out under the cabinet.  Check it out.  Can you see the slits for the vent?

I think that’s all of the latest “Ask Jo” or follow up to recent blog posts.
