It seems like there’s always more we wish we could do with our time. Today, we hope to inspire you with a few DIY bathroom projects that you can do in an hour or less.
Now, that doesn’t include the time it takes to get your materials. For example, going through a few jars of pickles for idea #4 will probably take more than an hour. However, once you have everything you need, you can complete each of these projects in 60 minutes or less.
1. DIY pebble mat
Our first DIY bathroom project is a pretty fun one. Plus, it will make you feel like you’re at a spa or nature retreat. Now, you’ve probably seen pebble mats for sale before. They can be expensive. But did you know that they are pretty easy to make?
For this project, you’ll need some river rocks, a caulk gun with a silicone adhesive, rubber for the mat, and a box cutter.

To secure the stones, cover your rubber in a layer of silicone. Transfer the stones one by one from the cardboard to the rubber as you follow your design pattern. Be sure to press them in firmly and add some extra silicone if you think you need to. Finally, let the mat dry and it’s good to go!
2. Wallpaper your cabinet with gift wrap
Do you ever get bored looking at the back wall of your bathroom cabinet? What if you tried gift wrapping your cabinet? Now, it might sound silly at first. However, it’s easy to do and easy to reverse if you don’t like it. Plus, it’s very inexpensive.
Just pick up some wrapping paper from the store, or use any you have laying around the house. Obviously, it may work better with geometric designs instead of Santa and his reindeer. But if that’s your thing, then go for it.
You’ll also need foam board, clear contact paper, spray adhesive, a craft knife, and scissors.
To begin, take out the shelves from your cabinet. Measure the inside area, and cut your foam board to that size. Next, measure a piece of wrapping paper that will cover the face of your board and go over the edges by about an inch. Use the spray adhesive to secure the paper down on the front and back.
Now, add your contact paper on top of the wrapping paper, and make sure that wraps around the back as well. This will keep your paper fresh in the damp environment of the bathroom.
Once everything is glued together, just place the gift-wrapped board in your cabinet and reinstall your shelves. This project is great because it won’t leave any residue in your cabinet, and you can enjoy a pop of color every day.
3. Shower mat with wooden decking
Here’s another quick DIY idea that will make your bathroom look like a spa: make a bath mat out of wood decking. You can pick up these deck tiles that snap together at any home improvement store. They aren’t too expensive, and they are super easy to use.
Depending on the size of the tile you get, you’ll only need four or six tiles to make a bath mat. Just take them out and follow the directions to snap them together.
One last step: cut off the pegs on the outer edges of your mat. You’ll need a Dremel, saw, or a razor blade to do this. Once that’s done, you’re in business! These wood tiles are already finished to withstand moisture, so don’t have to worry about sealing them.
4. Use empty pickle jars for Q-Tips and more
What’s the hardest part of this DIY bathroom project? Opening the pickle jar, of course. Once that’s done, the rest is easy. You can do this project with just one jar and add more as you go along. Or, you can wait until you have a few to use.
To get started, you’ll need some empty and cleaned glass jars (pickle jars work best), spray paint, drawer pulls with screws, a screwdriver, a drill, and plastic bottle caps.
Start by spraypainting your lids. You can make them all the same color or use a color palate. After those are dry, drill holes into the center of the lids. Next, drill holes into the center of your plastic bottle caps.
Take a bottle cap and put the open side against the underside of a lid. Line the holes up with the hole in the drawer handle. Now, put a screw through the bottle cap, through the lid, and into the drawer pull. Tighten it down.
The bottle cap is there to add an extra buffer of space since the screws are designed to go through a drawer. Really, you could use anything that would add a buffer, like a small piece of wood.
Repeat the steps above for as many jars as you have. The last step is to fill your jars with whatever you want and enjoy them!
5. Add a frame to your mirror
We’ve all lived in a place with a bland mirror on the wall, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Did you know it’s really easy to add a frame to your mirror? This quick DIY bathroom tip will bring some class to your bath in just a few minutes.
You don’t even have to remove the mirror to do this. Just find a bathroom mirror frame kit from a home improvement store or online. They are usually designed to fit over the clips that hold your mirror on the wall.
The frames adhere to the front of your mirror with strong double-sided tape. If you get one shipped to you, you’ll just have to glue the frame together before you install it.
You could even make a rustic frame for yourself using some interesting wood. That would probably take a bit longer than an hour, however. That’s because the back of the frame needs to have a bevel cut out to give some space for the hanging clips.
Either way you choose, adding a frame to your bathroom mirror can bring a lot of character into the room.
