With all the sickness in the world, you can never be too careful. And sanitizing your hands is so important to staying healthy. But what do you do when it’s flu season and the stores are out of hand sanitizer? 

Or when there is a new virus outbreak and the store shelves are empty? 

Well, you make your own hand sanitizer. 

How To Make Hand Sanitizer

Here’s What You’ll Need: 

• Mixing Bowl
• 1/3 measuring cup
• 2/3 measuring cup
• Spoon
• Funnel
• Pump Bottled (Empty soap bottles work great)
• Rubbing Alcohol
• Aloe Vera Gel
• Essential Oil (Optional) 

Directions to make your own DIY Hand Sanitizer

Step 1: 

Measure 1/3 cup of Aloe Vera Gel and pour it into a mixing bowl. 

Step 2: 

Add 2/3 cup of Rubbing Alcohol in to the mixing bowl. 

Step 3: 

Stir until the mixture is well combined. 

Step 4: 

Using a funnel, transfer the Hand Sanitizer into a pump bottle. 

Step 5: 

Enjoy your clean hands  

Why I Love This DIY Hand Sanitizer

When I realized I was going to have to make our own hand sanitizer, I was a little worried about finding a recipe that would help sanitize our hands, but also not dry them out. And this recipe did not disappoint! 

Not only does the alcohol clean and disinfect your hands, but the aloe in the hand sanitizer solution leaves your hands feeling soft. 

When You Should Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer

As I write this post, we’re in the midst of the Corona Virus and there are no stores that have hand sanitizer (or toilet paper ). And while we should all wash our hands as a number one safety protocol, sometimes it’s nice to have hand sanitizer on hand. 

In between washing your hands, hand sanitizer is the best way to keep yourself safe from the germs you come in contact with. 

The times you should be using it include: 

• Interactions at cash registers
• Drive-Thru interactions
• After touching doorknobs
• After shaking hands
• If you cough or sneeze
