It’s the most fashion-forward month of the year, and simultaneously the most confusing to dress for — between the endings of the summer season and the beginnings of autumn, and the both heavily intense rain showers and still wildly humid rush hour haze. Whatever you’re wearing, whatever you’re sweating, let’s just call it right here, right now: September has been quite a month.

We ate our hearts out in mountains of custard, lotus seed, and durian through the Mid-Autumn Festival at the beginning of the month, looking perhaps to clean and lean up with the start of the Vegetarian Festival at the end of it. Gaggan continued to excited us with sporadic pop-ups, whilst Phuket was crowned the new home of the world’s largest underwater restaurant. We lived for the retro moments at London, Paris, and Milan Fashion Week, all the while also supporting our homegrown brands, with the wicked and wild 20th anniversary of ISSUE. Yet whilst throughout all these happenings we’re always trying to stay one step ahead of the trends and report these to you on a lively stream of stories, it is often times understandably difficult for the buzzy busy bee to keep up with every hot feature. But that’s exactly why we’ve created this round-up.
Whether you’re an avid reader seeking a monthly ‘Best Of’ reel, or an insider looking to get the low-down on our most popular stories, we’ve put it all together here in one raving recap. In order of popularity (and exempting our monthly columns), relive some of the best exclusives we’ve covered this September, and consider yourself debriefed and dapper to dive right into October.

Why Jek Pui, the ‘musical chair’ restaurant, lives up to its Netflix hype
19 September 2019
"For those who never paid a visit to this oasis of curry and rice and are currently wondering if it truly lives up to the hype, the greatness of this place could also be visibly measured by its presence in Netflix’s latest Street Food show. The series documents Asia’s street food culture and is directed by David Gelb, the very same guy behind Chef’s Table. Although Jay Fai was highlighted as the star in the Bangkok episode for Street Food, Jek Pui was also given ample screen time. It has its own tale that constitutes the age-old Thai culinary wisdom and values which have been embedded evidently in street-side cooking."
