Crafty Easter Centerpieces Made From Recycled Materials
Posted by admin on
There’s no need to spend a lot of money on an Easter centerpiece when you can make one yourself! With materials you can find right at home, these recycled Easter centerpieces are the perfect DIY to dive into this month.
Mason Jar Masterpiece
Your kitchen pantry cabinet is probably stocked up with pasta sauces, nut butters, jellies, and other staples that you use on a daily basis. Every time you finish a glass jar, clean it out and set aside in your kitchen cabinets or home office to use later for crafts.
Reusing empty jars from your kitchen pantry cabinet is a great way to make your lifestyle more eco-friendly, and you will be surprised by all the crafty ways you can repurpose mason jars.
For this DIY project, we are going to make an Easter centerpiece using three empty glass jars. They can be all the same size or different — whatever you have will work. Here are all the materials you’ll need:
3 glass jars (any size) White paint (you can also use a spring shade like pastel pink or yellow if you have it) Burlap or twine Flowers or filler of choice
Once the jars are clean and dry, you are going to paint the outside of the jar completely, either using a solid color or two tone stripes. Go lightly over some sections and purposely miss a few areas so it looks a little unfinished and creates that vintage look.
After the paint has dried completely, you are going to decorate the jar by wrapping a strip of burlap around the center. If you don’t have burlap on hand, you can also cut strips off of a potato sack or any mesh produce bag. Alternatively, tie twine around the top of the jar, looping around three times.
Arrange your jars on your dining room table in a straight line or triangle formation. Then, fill with your favorite flowers to complete this farmhouse-chic mason jar masterpiece. Here’s an example of what your centerpiece could look like.
Beautiful Bathroom Cabinetry Basket
Is most of your bathroom cabinetry storage mismatched? If you have some wire baskets mixed with woven ones and the random plastic bin here and there, this is a great way to streamline your storage and make a great centerpiece.
Pull out a mismatched storage basket or bin (woven, wire or mesh works best) and set this aside to use as the base for a beautiful egg basket Easter centerpiece. Here’s the full list of materials:
Basket or bin Paint (optional) Ribbon Moss Hard boiled eggs Egg decor of choice
Depending what type of basket you have, you can either leave it as is or paint it. If you choose to paint your basket, wait until the paint dries to start any steps. Then, tie the ribbon around the basket and fasten it with a bow.
Fill your basket at least half way with your moss to create a solid foundation. If you don’t have moss on hand, you can opt for another bowl filler like raffia, straw, or paper grass. Feel free to get creative!
A day or two before Easter, hard boil your eggs and follow your favorite decorating method. You can go with the standard dip dye or use a paintbrush to create interesting two tone prints and patterns. Before your meal, arrange your eggs in your basket to use as a serving dish and centerpiece! Who knew a lone storage container from your bathroom cabinetry could be so easily transformed?
Egg-cellent Egg Carton Wreath
If you decorate eggs for Easter, you’re sure to have a lot of egg cartons left behind. Repurpose your paper egg cartons into a beautiful wreath centerpiece with just a few extra materials. Here’s everything you’ll need:
Paper egg cartons Paint (optional) Plastic eggs Fillers such as candy, moss or flowers (real or fake)
The great thing about this DIY easter centerpiece is that the only required material is egg cartons. From there, you have the wheel and can take this project in whatever direction you want. Paint your egg cartons or go for a more natural look. Fill with colorful plastic eggs and any decorative fillers like candy, moss, or flowers.
