Primary Bathroom With Dark Cabinetry and Classic Black and White Tiles

Posted by admin on

We have been sharing spaces from a new home built recently in Coal Valley, Illinois. If you peek at our last two blog features, they have been from this same project. There are Village Home Stores designs and products throughout this new home, and it is time for the primary bathroom to share some of the blog spotlight. Look at this amazing bathroom! Just off the primary bedroom with access to a large walk-in closet, this dual vanity layout is a dream.

Dual Vanity Primary Bathroom Layout

What’s better than two vanities in a shared bathroom? Two vanities spaced out comfortably from each other of course! Now it is very clear who’s drawer is who’s and there will be no bumping elbows when using the sinks. Users each have their own vanity cabinet, sink, and tall linen cabinet. The cabinetry in this space is from our Koch Classic line. The “Prairie” door is repeated from the kitchen here in a Cherry wood with a dark “Java” stain applied. While a painted black finish on the cabinetry would have also looked great here, the Java stain adds warmth and woodgrain to the space.

Matte Black and Dark Java Finishes Together

It is important to note just how great the “Java” stained cabinetry looks in the overall design paired with matte black finishes. Window frames, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and floor tile all are a black finish. But just like there are hundreds of shades of “white,” there are also many shades and sheens of black finishes. The walls are painted a warm greige tone and the vanity tops are an MSI Quartz in the “Carrara Marmi” color.

Black and white tile is always a classic choice. This pattern and color combination has been around ages and can be seen everywhere from palaces to farmhouses. The Village Home Stores tile showroom is full of many options that are available in a wide variety of color combinations. Hexagon tiles with a similar pattern to the one shown here are very popular. This Coal Valley, Illinois home features an octagon and diamond pattern. Essentially this pattern is achieved using square tiles clipped at the corners to allow a diamond at each edge.

Create A Visual Cue With a Tile Change

The inside of the primary bathroom shower repeats the same floor tile from the main room. Small, mosaic tiles like these make excellent shower floors as they slant near a drain. Small tiles lead to more grout lines that can add texture and help with slip-resistance. In the shower we used a white-on-white combination. Now when stepping into or out of the shower, your eye notices the difference in color and reminds you of that change in depth. Flooring can be an excellent way to give visual cues to a user in a space.
