New Construction Home in Davenport’s Seng Meadows
Posted by admin on
How stylish is the open-concept kitchen in this new ranch home built in Davenport, Iowa? This space includes select design and materials from Village Home Stores for the Seng Meadows Model home built by McCoy Homes of the Quad Cities. A few simple choices can elevate a basic white kitchen to an on-trend (and trending in a few of our TikToks) kitchen. Let us take a look around to see what was included.
Builder Grade Cabinets With an Upgrade
It is no secret that our Koch Cabinetry line is one of our top-selling lines. Koch gives us great style and quality at an incredible price that keeps us competitive with the box stores. Did you know that Koch has two series of cabinets? The Koch Classic line includes a massive variety of woods, finishes, cabinet skus, and modifications. The Koch Express line is a bit more limited with cabinet styles and options, but perfect for a design like this. With well under a dozen cabinets needed, this layout was simple enough it could be ordered through our Express Cabinetry line. The “Windsor” door and “White” painted finish looks great. The Express line begins with a basic construction and allows you to upgrade where you see the need to. In this case, the standard drawers were upgraded to a 5/8″ solid hardwood dovetail drawer with soft close 7/8 extension undermount guides. Ask a kitchen designer at Village Home Stores about all the construction upgrades within our Express line.
Plenty of cabinet storage is available in the perimeter including a tall pantry cabinet AND a walk-in pantry at the corner with a frosted glass door. There is nothing more classic than a tone-on-tone design. This kitchen layers up the whites for the cabinets, tile, and counter surfaces.
Carrara Marmi Quartz Counters
Nothing is more classic that white marble. MSI Quartz offers a counter surface called “Carrara Marmi” that gives the suggestion of marble with all the benefits of an engineered quartz. Village Home Stores offers hundreds of quartz surface options for your home. This Carrara Marmi design remains one of our top sellers the past few years in a row because of the look and the great price. Ask our team for a quote today.
Carrara Marmi is shown in this kitchen installed as an island top and perimeter tops without quartz backsplash. We love the look of a Stainless Steel undermount sink paired with a matte black kitchen faucet and disposal button. This sink/faucet combination helps to tie the rest of the finishes in the space together. The entire open-concept great room includes a perfect mix of whites, light woods, blacks, and metallic finishes.
A Kitchen Desk Reimagined
The kitchen desk has seen quite an evolution over the years in our industry. There are now cabinets available to help you store and sort all of your files, piles, and even plugged-in items. If 2020 taught us anything about designing spaces for a busy household it was this: make areas versatile. Anyone else have to re-arrange their entire home to make space for e-learning or work-from-home last year? In this kitchen the island is a wonderful place to set up if it is just you… or until it is lunchtime… or a parent or your partner starts dinner ahead of your work being finished.
Including a versatile space like this desk allows you options. The option to monitor a child within reach as they work, the option to shift you work piles over to another surface quickly when you are done, a drawer for non-kitchen utensils, etc. And we love the use of floating shelves above a desk area. Floating shelves are extremely versatile. You can use them to display décor, or organize/hide items in nice baskets or organizers. But enough about work, let’s talk about this great wall tile!
Geometric Wall Surfaces
Geometric patterns continue to be one trend for kitchens, bathrooms, and all surfaces in the home. Sometimes a pattern can get very “busy” and visually disruptive in space. Using a tone-on-tone approach to your selections helps you get an interesting look and texture to a surface without it getting overwhelming to see. Check out the kitchen “Chevron White” tile backsplash above and the fireplace wall treatment below to see what we mean. Now revisit those same images and imagine contrast with the grout or those cool plank patterns on the fireplace. This tone-on-tone approach is pleasing to the eye and very sophisticated.
Gasp! We are just so obsessed with what McCoy Homes did with this fireplace. With a statement like that above the mantle, a subtle tile choice around the firebox was needed. A classic 3 x 6 Color Wheel classic subway tile is on point in a matte finish “Arctic White” color. We decided to make a quick tiktok to showcase the surfaces in this stylish Quad Cities home and the internet agrees: it’s amazing!
What good is all this drama for the surfaces without a stage? The flooring in the main level is a true showstopper. Meet our private-label Paramount RIGIDcore luxury vinyl plank. This light-to-medium- wood tone color is named “Graciano”. Are you building a home in or around the Quad Cities soon? Village Home Stores can help you select materials for the surfaces in that home. from flooring to tiled showers and everything in-between.
